Theatre Is Easy

Theatre Is Easy (Theasy.com) is committed to connecting audiences to New York theatre. Through trustworthy reviews written by theatre practitioners, Theasy offers quick and easy information about what's playing on Broadway, off Broadway, and downtown.
I started writing reviews for Theatre is Easy (Theasy) in 2014 because it was (and very much still is) the only online publication that consistently covered small and independent theater productions in New York. It also gave me a chance to sharpen my writing skills early in my career, as writing reviews requires building engaging content that tells a complete story within a set word limit. Theasy is committed to publishing reviews in a way that uplifts the artistic communities its writers engage with, rather than panning them with a barrage of unhelpful insults.
As a writer, after watching the show I work in Microsoft Word or Google Docs to write my article, which always includes a "bottom line" (a quick, one sentence summary to grab the audience's attention) and a "Five Points or Less" which gives readers a quick overview of both the show and my thoughts. Then, I create the webpage, include the content I've written along with any relevant links from other reviews or press releases, and upload a photo using Theasy's image standards. I also updated the SEO keywords with any terms and names relevant to both the production and Theasy. Here's a sample of some reviews I've written for Theasy:
