PDP Improvements Lead to an Additional $40k in Yearly Revenue

William Prater

The primary goal was to optimize the page to enhance user engagement and conversion rates, reflecting the brand's energetic and youth-oriented identity.

Scope & Objectives:

The project involved redesigning the PDP to improve clarity, highlight key product features, and streamline the purchasing process. The aim was to make the page more intuitive and engaging, thereby increasing the revenue per visitor (RPV) and conversion rate (CVR).

The Problem:

Initial user feedback and analytics indicated several shortcomings in the PDP design:
- Text alignment and information layout that reduced content clarity and scalability.
- The 'Add to Cart' button was not sufficiently prominent, often overlooked by users.
- Key product features and unique selling points were underemphasized.
- Lack of visible customer reviews and social proof that could aid purchase decisions.
- The overall purchase process was cumbersome, detracting from user experience.

The Solution:

To address these issues, we implemented several strategic changes:
- Text Alignment and Layout: Adjusted the alignment and layout for better readability and visual flow.
- Add to Cart Button: Redesigned the button to be more visible and attractive, ensuring consistency with the cart icon.
- Highlighting Key Features: Restructured the product description to emphasize unique features more clearly.
- Social Proof: Integrated customer reviews more prominently to build trust and influence buying decisions.
- Streamlined Purchase Process: Simplified navigation and interactions leading to the purchase, making the journey from browsing to buying quicker and smoother.

Information Architecture

We reorganized the information on the PDP to enhance the user's journey:
- The product title and price were made instantly visible upon page load.
- A more intuitive interface for quantity adjustments and clearer 'Add to Cart' visibility.
- Bullet points were used to succinctly highlight product features, making them easy to digest.
- Expandable sections for detailed product information like shipping and care instructions were optimized for better user engagement.

Value of the Project:

For Users:
- Enhanced clarity and ease of navigation improve the shopping experience.
- Quick access to essential product information and reviews aids in making informed purchase decisions.
- A more efficient checkout process reduces time and effort.
For the Business:
- Improvements led to a 7.17% increase in RPV and a 7.57% increase in CVR.
- The redesign contributed to an estimated annual revenue increase of $43,308.

UI Design

The UI redesign focused on aligning with the youthful and vibrant brand aesthetic. We utilized bold colors, clear typography, and engaging visuals that resonate with the target demographic. The redesigned 'Add to Cart' button was made to stand out through the use of contrasting colors and dynamic shapes, enhancing its visibility and attractiveness.

Conclusion:

The A/B testing and subsequent redesign of the PDP proved highly effective, demonstrating significant improvements in user engagement and sales metrics. These changes not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also streamlined the user journey, leading to a better overall user experience and increased business metrics. This case study exemplifies the importance of user-centered design and continuous testing in creating effective and compelling digital shopping experiences.
