HTML ID-Link Checker — Personal Python Demo

Personal demonstration using synthetic HTML fixtures; no client engagement.
A Python standard-library command-line tool checks ID links in one local static HTML file. It reports missing fragment targets and duplicate IDs with source line/column positions and deterministic JSON output. It supports UTF-8/BOM input, HTML entities and UTF-8 percent-encoded fragments, preserving case.
Verification: 12 automated tests passed. The valid synthetic example has three checked links and no issues. The broken example reports a missing #contact target at line 3, column 29, and duplicate work IDs on lines 4 and 5. Input files are read without modification. Source code, tests, examples and run notes are available.
Scope: static same-document ID links only, with the small source file held in memory. This does not run JavaScript, crawl other pages, render a browser, perform visual or accessibility testing, or replace a complete HTML validator. The cover is an original diagram of the actual static-check results.
