Rooted in the visual language of cinema, this personal project reimagines the identity for the New York Film Festival through the graphic patterns of the clapboard slate.
The system draws from the rhythm and structure of filmmaking to create a flexible identity designed to evolve annually, while reinforcing NYFF’s legacy as a leading cultural institution.
The Clapboard System
The identity system is built around the graphic structure of the clapboard slate, an iconic symbol of filmmaking.
Diagonal bars and rhythmic patterns become the foundation of the visual language, creating a dynamic grid that organizes typography, imagery, and motion across festival communications.
