Pinto Express — Custom POS & Inventory System

Pinto Express needed a complete point-of-sale and inventory management system tailored to their B2B breakfast delivery operation. Off-the-shelf solutions were either too expensive, too complex, or required Windows licenses. They needed something lightweight, reliable, and built specifically for their workflow.

I designed and developed a custom client-server application from scratch using Gambas3 on Linux, keeping costs at zero for licensing while delivering a professional, production-ready tool.

The decision to build on Linux with Gambas3 eliminated all licensing costs for the client while delivering a stable, performant application that runs on modest hardware.

The system handles the full business cycle: from receiving inventory, to processing sales, to printing tickets, to calculating profit margins. Every transaction is logged and backed up automatically.

The interface was designed with simplicity as a priority. Large buttons, clear labels, and a logical flow mean the staff can process orders quickly during the morning rush without errors.

Pinto Express now runs their entire operation through a single, custom-built system that cost them nothing in software licenses. The automatic backup system (local + cloud) gives them peace of mind, and the profit tracking helps them make informed business decisions about pricing and inventory.
