This is one of my recreational projects, where I designed and 3D a functioning cryptex. A cryptex is a lock box used to keep valuables safe, and the idea is originally featured in Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code. After reading this book, I decided to make one in real life based purely off the verbal description of the mechanism from the novel. The mechanism works similarly to a bike lock's; there are several rings on the cylindrical surface that must be correctly aligned in order for the device to unlock and reveal the secret storage chamber inside.
This project required very advanced CAD 3D modeling and mechanical design skills, and is an excellent example of my ability to design innovative solutions only given a small amount of information to start with.
