Emilie Lebel
Overview: Place à la jeunesse needed a brand refresh and a new website to better align with the Telfer School of Management’s identity and to provide broader access to resources.
Solution: I refreshed the existing brand, incorporating the Telfer School of Management’s name and identity. Additionally, I designed a website that is both visually appealing and user-friendly, ensuring seamless access to resources.
Since 2004, Place à la jeunesse has been a business case competition for high school students organized by the University of Ottawa. The format is identical to that of the Jeux du commerce, a case study competition at the university level. The competition aims to introduce high school students to the world of business and to promote francophone post-secondary education. Place à la jeunesse is an annual competition that usually takes place in October and November.
I participated in this competition in 2017 and was part of the team organizing the competition in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023. In 2017, my team won the first place for the marketing category and I earned a $5,000 scholarship to pursue my studies at the University of Ottawa. Once in university, I continued to participate in business case competitions and represented Telfer twice at the Jeux du Commerce and twice at Happening Marketing. This competition holds a special place in my heart because it sparked my interest in marketing.
Place à la jeunesse was using the same logo from 2004, and I was tasked with refreshing the logo, while maintaining the original brand and integrating the Telfer School of Management's name into the design.
I also built a website for Place à la jeunesse. Before, the competition only had a page on the school's official website. Now, french language high schools from across Ontario can easily access information, sign up to participate in the competition, and find resources to prepare their teams. When designing the website, I integrated some elements of the Telfer School of Management's visual brand to further associate the competition with the school.
