THE IDEA

Objective: Create a simple, fun game to test and showcase logic design skills using Spline, focusing on 3D modeling, texturing, and animation workflows.
Core Vision:
Demonstrate Spline’s capabilities for rapid 3D web development.
Design intuitive puzzles that challenge players’ spatial reasoning.

DETAILS

Scope:
Modeling: Created a 3D environment and characters from scratch.
Texturing: Applied materials to enhance visual appeal.
Animation: Added movement to objects and characters to create interactivity.
Logic: Implemented reset if collisions, follow character mechanics , game controls, etc...
Timeline:
Total Hours: 20 hours (concept to final build).
Phases:
Planning & Ideation: 3 hours.
Asset Creation: 10 hours.
Logic Implementation: 5 hours.
Testing & Polish: 2 hours.
Budget Estimate:
Freelance Rate: $50/hour (industry average for 3D design).
Total Cost: ~$1,000 (scalable for larger teams or complex projects).

EXECUTION

Key Steps in Spline

3D Modeling:
Designed low-poly 3D assets (e.g., astronaut, robot, rocket) to ensure smooth web performance.
Used Spline’s Boolean tools to create complex shapes (e.g., the parts of the robot).
Texturing:
Applied minimalist, vibrant materials to differentiate interactive elements (e.g., glowing textures for “active” objects).
Leveraged Spline’s built-in PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials for realistic lighting.
Animation:
Created looping animations for moving platforms and rotating obstacles.
Used Spline’s timeline editor to sync animations with player interactions (e.g., doors opening after solving a puzzle).
Logic Implementation:
Built interactive puzzles using Spline’s State and Event systems (e.g., triggering a bridge animation when players place blocks correctly).
Added collision detection to reset the game if the robot collides with a character.

CONCLUSION

This project successfully bridged creativity and technical skill, proving that Spline is a powerful tool for both aspiring 3D designers and logic-driven game developers. By dedicating 20 hours to modeling, texturing, animation, and logic implementation, I transformed a simple 2D concept into an engaging 3D web experience while honing my proficiency in Spline’s workflows.
