In this case story, we will delve into my experience as a panelist at a major convention, sharing insights and tips on navigating independent journalism in the entertainment industry. My expertise as a music entertainment journalist was instrumental in delivering an engaging and informative panel.

I was invited to be a panelist at The Modern Day Entertainment Journalists Reporting on Entertainment, hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists during their Convention and Career Fair. With minimal time for preparation, I stepped up to provide valuable insights on freelancing in the entertainment realm. Brandon Pope served as the moderator, guiding discussions around challenges and opportunities faced by independent journalists.

Results ✨

The last-minute addition of the panelists turned out to be a stroke of luck for the organizer. The audience expressed surprise and interest in freelance journalism, with many approaching us after the panel to express their inspiration to pursue freelancing themselves. The event garnered positive feedback from journalists, broadcasters, reporters, editors, and producers present at the convention.
