Short Film - Silent Passage

“Silent Passage” was created for a short film competition organized by The Dor Brothers, under the theme “Door.” The project began as an exploration of the symbolic weight of doors, not merely as physical barriers, but as fragile thresholds between realities, identities, and desires.

The film was developed from a fascination with how a simple metaphor can carry deep psychological meaning. A door can represent curiosity, fear, temptation, or transformation. We wanted to capture that multiplicity and turn it into a visual and emotional journey.

From concept to execution, the process was a dialogue between story and technology. Generative AI tools allowed us to craft imagery that feels dreamlike yet grounded in emotion. Each shot was designed to mirror the protagonist’s descent into other consciousnesses, a gradual disintegration of self, told through shifting perspectives and evolving visual textures.

Silent Passage was born from a simple yet unsettling question: what if the boundaries of our consciousness were as fragile as a door in the attic, always there, but unnoticed until opened?

This film is a reflection on envy and identity. A journey into the minds of others reflects a deeply human longing, the desire to live a life that seems greater, richer, or more meaningful than our own. Each step he takes is an act of envy, a quiet wish to escape the limitations of the self. Yet envy, when pursued to its end, strips us of our essence until nothing remains.

The attic door stands as a symbol of temptation. It represents the pull to step into what is not ours, to borrow perspectives and experiences, to chase what we believe others possess. The more he surrenders to this desire, the more he loses the fragile ground of his own existence. The final image of being trapped within a mirror is the cruel irony of envy. In trying to live as others, he becomes unable to live as himself.

Through this story, I wish to invite the audience to reflect on the quiet power of envy, the way it erodes us in silence, leading us to long, to covet, and ultimately to lose ourselves.
