The WeGuide Health app is a comprehensive medical platform designed to empower users in managing their health-related information. As an accessibility consultant and front-end developer, I played a dual role in ensuring the app's accessibility and usability for all users, from guiding the teams on accessibility best practices to implementing a seamless user interface.
• Role and Responsibilities:
Initially, I served as an accessibility consultant, providing guidance and mentorship to the UX and development teams on accessibility principles and best practices. Collaborating with the UX team, I ensured that the app's design, created using Figma, adhered to accessibility standards. Subsequently, as a front-end developer, I built the app's user interface from scratch using the Angular-based Ionic framework, ensuring accessibility and WCAG compliance at every stage of development through rigorous testing.
• Technologies Used:
The app was developed using the Angular-based Ionic framework for front-end development, with Sass utilized for custom styling. These technologies enabled the creation of a responsive and accessible user interface that catered to the diverse needs of users.
• Goals Achieved:
The primary objective of the project was to develop a user-friendly and accessible medical app that allows users to monitor and manage their medical information effectively. By prioritizing accessibility in both design and development, we ensured that the app was 100% accessible, enabling all users to benefit from its features and functionalities.
• Achievements and Challenges:
A significant achievement of the project was the successful implementation of highly customizable surveys to collect medical information from users. This required the development of custom components beyond the default behavior of Ionic components, ensuring seamless integration and functionality across all devices and systems. Overcoming this challenge involved meticulous testing and refinement to ensure a cohesive user experience.
