From 2010 to 2020, I worked on a freelance contract basis for Travel Associates (a luxury travel retailer that is part of the global Flight Centre Travel Group). One of my regular roles was acting as editor of their quarterly travel brochure.
My responsibilities ranged from creating a flat plan for each edition, subbing product copy into InDesign templates, reviewing and editing the work of contributors to ensure that it conformed to house style requirements, writing product descriptions, editorials, contents pages and more.
I also acted as project manager, liaising with the graphic designer to get pages mocked up and sending those pages to suppliers for review and approval, making amends, where required, and doing a final proof of each brochure before sending it to print.
These brochures were regularly chosen as finalists in the Australian Catalogue Awards.
