Founding President at Raise UCL

I founded the first London chapter of a national registered charity, Raise, which aims to positively impact the way that students think about charitable giving. I recruited and led a team of 12 people within four different departments (Publicity, Sponsorship, Fundraising and Events) to host two large parties and raise money for the Against Malaria Foundation, a highly effective charity that distributes insecticide-treated bed nets in malarious countries. I led meetings every week, often taking minutes myself and encouraging committee members to bring forward their own ideas in line with the norms that I set to avoid burnout and maintain good committee relations. I organised collaborative events with other societies at the university, overcoming bureaucratic problems with the Students' Union and getting our chapter affiliated with the Volunteering Service, earning us the title of 'Student-Led Project.' Later in the year, I also took over managing our social media page, creating Instagram graphics and posters on Canva.

Within two weeks, we raised over £4,500.
