Project Y (2021)

Project Overview: I'm a big fan of turn-based strategy games and I've always wanted to develop one. The project began with the creation of a basic turn-based system and evolved into a dynamic and complex health system that profoundly impacts the player's available actions.
Technical Details: Over the course of a month, I focused on refining the game's mechanics. One of the standout features I'm excited about is the advanced health system. Instead of relying on a single HP bar to gauge a unit's health, I've implemented multiple HP values for different body parts. Losing these body parts won't necessarily result in the character's death unless it's a vital area like the head. Instead, it limits the character's range of possible actions.
Additionally, I've incorporated dynamic actions into the game. For instance, if a character loses both of their arms or hands, they will no longer be capable of launching attacks in any form. Similarly, if they lose their legs or feet, they'll be unable to move or engage in melee combat due to their lack of mobility.
Future Plans: While I haven't been able to fully realize all the features I envisioned for this project, including the implementation of a campaign mode, I've decided to pivot and save those ideas for a new project I'm calling "Project S."
