Groww observed a high number of users signing up but hesitating to make their first investment.

Process ✍️

To understand the user journey and identify conversion roadblocks, my team and I conducted in-depth user research. We explored user motivations for signing up, focusing on:
Platform Discovery: How did users initially learn about Groww?
Brand Appeal: What attracted users to Groww's brand voice and messaging?
User Interface: Why did users appreciate Groww's user interface compared to other financial platforms?
Educational Content: Did Groww's educational content on YouTube (e.g., Indian stock market videos) play a role in attracting users?

Consumer Insight 💡

Our research revealed a key user barrier: fear of financial decision-making. Many users, despite appreciating Groww's platform and educational content, lacked confidence in their financial knowledge. This aligns with Dave Ramsey's observation that personal finance is "80% behavior and 20% head knowledge." Users were hesitant to invest, fearing potential losses despite their interest in taking control of their finances.

Solution 🧠

To address user confidence and empower informed decision-making, we implemented a unique community-driven content strategy, a rarity in the financial services industry. Since Groww doesn't offer financial advice, we opted for a purely educational approach. We launched a weekly email newsletter focused on deconstructing one financial concept at a time, replacing traditional promotional content. This strategy aimed to nurture a community of financially curious users, fostering confidence to take control of their investments.
