What will you post today? It can be difficult to come up with new posts. A social media calendar can help you with consistency. Your posts should inform, educate, or inspire. Choose a social media platform and decide if you want to use pictures, text, or video.
There are two rules you can follow as a guide to producing content.
The social media rule of thirds. 1/3 of your posts promote your business or drive conversions. 1/3 of your posts should educate. You can include information from industry thought leaders. 1/3 of your posts include engagement posts. Ask your audience a question.
The 80-20 rule: 80 percent of your posts inform, educate, or entertain. 20 percent of your posts promote your business or drive conversion.
If you make products you can show yourself making the product, using the product, solving a problem with the product, packaging the product, and receiving orders.
If you are a service-based business you can share your knowledge, show yourself working on the client's account, and talk about your success with your client.
if you want more people to see your post on Instagram it helps to link your post with a social media holiday. I used Hub Post to find a list of social media holidays. It is also a good way to fill the calendar with topics.
