Trova — Editorial Framer Template for Boutique Hiking & Trekking Travel

Project Overview:

Trova is a Framer template built for boutique hiking and trekking travel agencies — the kind of operators who guide small groups through the Himalaya, Patagonia, or the Alps and need a site that feels as considered as the trips they sell. Most travel templates default to generic tourism-site tropes: carousels, star ratings, stock-photo clichés. Trova was built to avoid all of that.
The goal of this project was to:
Build an editorial, calm visual language instead of a typical "travel booking" aesthetic
Present ten distinct hikes with rich, structured detail (difficulty, duration, route, permits, packing)
Make guides feel like real people, not a generic "meet the team" grid
Give agency owners a CMS-driven site they can update without touching code
Avoid every SaaS/tourism-site cliché: no bento icon grids, no carousels, no star ratings

The Problem: Most hiking/trekking travel sites struggle with:

Stock imagery and templated layouts that feel interchangeable with any tour operator
Overuse of star ratings and generic "testimonial carousel" patterns that undercut trust rather than build it
Hike/trip detail pages that dump information without hierarchy
No real texture — guides reduced to headshots and job titles instead of people with real credentials

Trova needed to feel:

Editorial, not corporate
Grounded — like it was built by people who've actually been on the trail
Structured enough to hold ten hikes' worth of detail without becoming a wall of text
Distinct enough to stand out in a marketplace full of generic travel templates

My Approach:

Locked a design system early: Forest Green, Trail Lime, and Off-White on Clash Grotesk, with a > eyebrow prefix in Trail Lime as a recurring signature
Built sentence-case headings around a consistent "what the [noun] actually [verb]" pattern instead of generic marketing copy
Structured hike detail pages around a 2x2 trip-facts grid, route card, and sticky booking card — dense information made scannable
Designed guide cards as a hover-reveal pattern (portrait, role, name at rest; credential and quote on hover) instead of a flat headshot grid
Enforced a strict no-visible-faces rule across all AI-generated/stock imagery, with real guide portraits as the deliberate exception — reinforcing authenticity
Built the Hikes collection as a full CMS (name, difficulty, duration, route, gallery, schedule) so buyers can add or edit trips without touching layout

Ten fully built-out hikes across a structured CMS, not a static grid
Hover-reveal guide cards with real portraits and credential-paired quotes
Sticky scroll timetable and staggered scroll-triggered sections for the experience/how-it-works flow
Typographic 404 page instead of a generic photo-background error screen
Fully responsive, CMS-driven, and built for agencies to self-manage content post-purchase
