Built through Aircards for Visa and FIFA, this was one of the largest online stadium tour experiences ever created — a WebAR-powered fan activation that let users step inside the World Cup from their phones.
The experience opened with an AR portal that placed users into the tournament. From there they could navigate an interactive 3D stadium map to select any of the eight Qatar 2022 venues, then explore each one through 360° video tours with contextual hotspots — stadium facts, key locations, points of interest. Navigation ran on SwiperJS, and the 360° player used gyroscope controls for natural mobile movement. The 360° video pipeline was built with FFmpeg, processed and served through AWS S3 and CloudFront for performance at scale.
Hotspot content was localized across multiple languages and alphabets. Rather than hardcoding strings, I built an Excel-to-JSON localization pipeline that let the wider team manage translations without touching the codebase — a practical solution for a global rollout at this scale.
The experience also included a trophy selfie AR filter — users could hold the FIFA World Cup trophy in their hands and share the moment on social. Built with 8th Wall, Three.js, and A-Frame.
One of the largest online stadium tour experiences ever created — delivering an immersive, multi-language fan activation for one of the most-watched sporting events in the world, at Visa and FIFA scale.
WebAR experience built with 8th Wall, Three.js, A-Frame, and JavaScript. Interactive 3D stadium map with per-venue navigation. 360° video pipeline using FFmpeg for processing and AWS S3 + CloudFront for delivery at scale. SwiperJS navigation with gyroscope controls for mobile 360° playback. Excel-to-JSON localization pipeline for multilingual hotspot content across languages and alphabets. AR trophy selfie filter for social sharing.
Lead Development: Led development of the core interactive experience — 3D stadium map, 360° tour integration, hotspot navigation, and AR trophy selfie — across the full stack from scene logic to UI.
3D Stadium Map: Built the interactive 3D map scene for selecting and navigating between all eight Qatar 2022 venues, with camera animations and transitions between states.
360° Video Integration: Set up the FFmpeg processing pipeline and AWS S3 + CloudFront delivery infrastructure for the stadium tour video content, and built the in-experience player with SwiperJS navigation and gyroscope controls.
Trophy Selfie AR: Built the face filter allowing users to hold the FIFA World Cup trophy in AR and share on social.
Localization Pipeline: Designed and built an Excel-to-JSON pipeline for managing multilingual hotspot content, enabling the wider team to handle translations without code changes.
Performance Optimization: Optimized assets and runtime across the full experience for consistent performance on mobile at global scale.
