Brand identity for making legal services, humanized and smarter.
Context
Novadroit is an innovative platform that combines artificial intelligence, legal expertise, and human-centered design. Its goal is to make legal support accessible to entrepreneurs and tech professionals—without the friction and opacity of traditional law firms.
The team approached me with a clear mission: to craft a strong, modern, and approachable brand identity that could express their unique positioning at the intersection of AI, service design, and legal expertise.
The Challenge
Creating a simplified legal access experience that addresses a problem felt by so many individuals and businesses.
The challenge was to visualize a solution that lives at the crossroads of three distinct yet interconnected worlds:
AI Technology — improving legal productivity.
Service Design — meeting new user expectations.
Legal Expertise — delivering high-level professional reliability and trust.
We had to move away from outdated legal clichés and avoid falling into tech minimalism. The goal: a fresh, refined identity that inspires confidence.
The Strategy
The numbers are telling: 65% of Canadians feel powerless when faced with legal issues.
To address that, we built a user-first strategy that:
Analyzed the limitations of current legal offerings.
Identified what users are truly looking for: simplicity, clarity, and speed.
Translated those needs into a brand identity that is both modern and credible.
Novadroit didn’t want to look like a tech startup or a law firm. They wanted something more approachable, yet forward-thinking—human, yet bold.
The identity was built around three pillars:
Simplicity (vs. complexity)
Clarity (vs. confusion)
Speed (vs. slowness)
The Message
"Nova," a term used in the legal field and also meaning a burst of light in darkness, became the foundation of the brand concept.
These star-like forms—paired with navigation symbols and supported by AI—express a connection between the vast, often overwhelming universe and this new technology helping us make sense of it.
The central idea is rooted in the visual metaphor of a "guiding star"—leading people through uncertainty. This inspired the brand’s core message: Fair. Simple.
A visual identity that reassures and guides through design, not complexity.
The Visual Solution
I developed a visual identity system built on refined design elements:
A custom, timeless logo.
A balanced, modern color palette.
A cosmically inspired icon set.
A custom serif typeface, optimized for reading clarity in legal content.
To help Novadroit present their services with clarity and impact, I also designed a suite of branded tools: pin sets, wallpapers, and printed materials—everything needed to roll out the identity across channels.
To meet the brand’s growing digital needs, I created a functional prototype for a mobile app and user dashboard—designed to deliver a seamless and visually aligned experience.
The Result
The final identity system is modular, distinctive, and scalable—perfectly suited for both digital and real-world applications.
