The Mangrove Literary Journal

Amanda Molina

Mangrove is the University of Miami’s literary journal, publishing fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and art from current undergraduate students and recent alumni from a variety of majors and schools nationwide.

My Time as Managing Editor

Publishing a journal with a team of 10 students was an incredible journey. I learned how to manage a team, design visually stunning layouts, and market our events.
Managing a team can be tough, but I found that setting clear goals and encouraging everyone to share their ideas made all the difference.
I channeled my inner designer to create visually appealing layouts using Adobe InDesign. Plus, I provided feedback to writers to help them improve their work. It was a thrill to see our publication come to life.
We even hosted a successful Blind Date with a Book fundraiser! I’m grateful for the experience and can’t wait for the next challenge.
