Romode Candles: Packaging Design

Romode Candles is a candle brand based in Tanzania. They produce scented candles with different fragrances including lavender, fruit, coconut, mint, lemon, rose, strawberry, clove, and ocean. They developed a unique fragrance for mosquito repellant Candles because of the increasing rate of malaria caused by mosquitos in Africa.

The goal was to create memorable packaging designs for the candles that appeal to their target audience and increase revenue for the business.

We wanted to show the variety of scented candles that Romode Candles offers in an African minimalist brand style.

We developed a unique pattern for the packaging design inspired by "Kanga" a traditional material in Tanzania used for clothing and wrapping items. The style tells a story of the Tanzania culture. The packaging of the Strawberry, Lavender, Rose, Mint, Clove, and other scented candles was designed using the pattern, the green color as the primary to show that they are varieties of planted-based fragrances. The packaging of the mosquito repellent candle was created with a blue color from the brand assets differentiating it as a Unique selling proposition.

Adapted to the Brand Personality: The custom pattern and the packaging style gave a sense of warmth and adapted to the African minimalist brand style.

Global Recognition: The new packaging made the scented candles attractive to the audience leading to an Award by IMPACTHER in 2023.
