SOCIAL CAMPAIGN: Touched by the Congo

We are currently all taking part in a massive human rights, public health, and and environmental catastrophe. In the Congo, people are enslaved and working in toxic environments to harvest Cobalt, which is used in all rechargeable batteries. People are left homeless and suffer from health issues due to the exposure. They have no proper equipment and it is estimated that every week a mine collapses, killing whoever is inside.
The goal of this project is to shed light on this issue and raise awareness. With enough attention, we can potentially revolutionize the industry and supply chain and end modern slavery in the Congo.
I designed the “Touched by the Congo” logo, using a finger print to represent the people and the bold red symbolizes the bloodshed and violence faced by the Congolese people. I wanted the design to be very eye-catching and instantly tell the viewer about their part in this global issue.
This project was very heavy but I felt it was necessary to bring awareness too. I am very proud of the final deliverables, and now I hope you “KNOW your part” and “OWN your part”.
