Project Overview
I created a writing club! It started as an online private blog where members would share their writing, and it evolved to host monthly "writing hours" (where we would come together on zoom to write together). Each month, I would send writing club "check in" emails. I've included a few of them below!
Tone: casual & fun
Audience: California women in their twenties who are interested in writing and journaling
Goal: remind members to write and post on our blog... later evolved to announce writing hour info

Hello lovelies ❤️
August really did slip away (🎶 like a bottle of wine... cause it was never mine... someone’s been listening to too much folklore...) Anyway, I hope you've been having a marvelous summer and are enjoying these long days and plentiful sunshine ☀️
As always, the writing club is a creative space you can utilize and peruse: [link]
May the remainder of your summer be filled with shenanigans, rest, and a little bit of magic,

Hello lovelies!
Hope you are doing well and finding some things to be grateful for — no matter how big or small! 🥧
In honor of Thanksgiving, I have a book recommendation for you: "Bad Indians: A Tribal Memoir" by Deborah Miranda.
It's California history told from a Native American's point of view. It has a mix of memoir, poetry, newspaper clippings, anthropological recordings, etc. As you can probably guess, it's very heartbreaking... but also very enlightening and a fantastic read.

Sending love! 💞

subject line: Writing Club: February Check In 💖
Hello writing friends!
Hope you've been feeling the love this month 💕 and if not, here's a lil virtual bouquet for you! 💐
Just a reminder that there was no February writing hour this month, but writing prompts can be found in last month's email.
The next few writing hours have shifted a bit, so here are the new dates:
MARCH WRITING HOUR: March 26th at 10am PDT
APRIL WRITING HOUR: April 16th at 3pm PDT
I'll send out the zoom links for these as they get closer.
I'm planning to resume the usual first-Sunday-of-the-month writing hour cadence in May.
Sending love,
Z
Note: I also have 2 years of experience writing email campaigns for a B2B company. Types of emails included sales outreach and nurture sequences, event announcements, customer outreach, and a seasonal newsletter. The newsletter had a more professional tone than the writing club newsletter, and it included sections like "Product Updates" for new feature announcements and "Food for Thought" to highlight recent blog posts.
