Pride Article
June is Pride Monthwhen the world􏰀s LGBTQ􏰁 communities come together and celebrate thefreedom to be themselves. Pride Month started in June to remember the Stonewall uprising in June
1969 in New York City, which helped spark the modern gay rights movement. Pride Month was started by bisexual activist Brenda Howard, known as 􏰂The Mother of Pride􏰀 one year after the riots􏰃The rainbow flag is displayed in many places to represent the celebration of Pride Month. The flag was created by an American artist, gay rights activist, and veteran named Gilbert Baker in 1978 as a new symbol for LGBTQ+ political movement during that time. Each color of the flag represents something specific to bring the community together.
Over the years the LGBTQ+ community has been making great strides􏰃 Let􏰀s take a look at alittle Pride history.
Let us take the month of June, and all other months, to celebrate our differences. To be bold in the things that make us unique. Let us all go out into the world and show love and respect to everyone because all people deserve to live with acceptance. We all deserve to live free from fear and discrimination. Let us all become educated and aware of the fight that has been fought in order to gain the freedom to be whomever we want to be. This month we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and the freedoms that come with this proud legacy. May every adult be free to live unjudged and may every child grow up in this world knowing they are loved for exactly who they are.
