I led the end-to-end development of Nour AI, transforming it from a specialized AI chatbot into a Duolingo-style learning platform serving 1,000+ daily users.
Phase 1: Building a High-Performance RAG System
The initial goal was to provide users with instant, verifiable answers about Islamic history from a trusted knowledge base.
Engineered a RAG System: Built from scratch using a fine-tuned Gemini LLM, Zilliz vector DB, and BM25 hybrid embeddings to query 100,000+ chunks of verified text.
Achieved Elite Performance: Delivered 93%+ answer relevance with <100ms latency.
Optimized for Scale: Reduced AI inference costs by 78% and built a failover system with Azure to ensure high uptime.
Full-Stack Development: Created the frontend in React and the backend with Convex

Phase 2: Pivoting to Solve User Retention
After launching, I identified a key business problem: low user retention. I took product ownership and re-architected the app to focus on habit formation.
Engineered for Engagement: Implemented Duolingo-style systems including streaks, points, and dynamic notifications (OneSignal) to keep users coming back.
Cross-Platform Expansion: Ported the web app to native Android & iOS using Capacitor to reach a wider audience.
Integrated Core Services: Added Stripe for monetization, Auth0 for security, and PostHog for deep user analytics.
