Project Overview
The Bonito Spa needed a modern, user-friendly website to promote their luxury spa services and enable clients to book appointments online. As a web and UI/UX designer, I was tasked with designing a visually appealing website with an intuitive interface and seamless user experience to reflect the spa’s serene and welcoming aesthetic. The goal was to attract new clients, simplify the booking process, and establish a strong online presence for the wellness center.
Challenge
The Bonito Spa faced several challenges:
Limited Online Presence: As a physical spa, they needed a website to showcase their services and build trust with potential clients.
Complex Service Offerings: The site had to clearly present a variety of services (e.g., massages, facials, waxing) with easy navigation and booking integration.
Mobile Accessibility: With many clients browsing on mobile, the site required seamless responsiveness.
User Experience: The booking and service selection process needed to be intuitive to reduce friction and encourage conversions.

Process

Research & Discovery
Conducted research on spa websites locally and internationally (e.g., Orikigroup) to identify best practices for service presentation, booking flows, and user engagement.
Studied certain personas of those who typically go to a spa (e.g., women and men aged 25–50 seeking wellness) to tailor the UI/UX design to their preferences.
UI Design
Crafted a clean and minimal UI with a soft color palette and sans-serif typography (Classical Romance) to evoke calm, professionalism and sophistication.
Used high-quality images of the spa’s interior and treatments to create an inviting and warm atmosphere, aligning properly with what the company needed.
UX Design
Designed intuitive user flows for browsing services and booking appointments. The goal was to minimize clicks to complete a booking as much as possible.
Created interactive elements from service filters to streamlined booking form to enhance usability.
Prototype
Built an interactive Figma prototype to test user flows, focusing on the booking process and service selection mostly as it was the most important aspect of the project.
Iterated based on client feedback, simplifying the booking process and adding tooltips for service descriptions where ever necessary. Tested the prototype with 4 users to validate navigation and usability on desktop and mobile devices.
Handoff
Provided design assets and a style guide in Figma for a web developer.
Collaborated to ensure responsive and pixel implementation, fast load times, and accurate integration with the spa’s booking system.

Results

Enhanced User Experience: The intuitive booking process and clear service navigation make it easy for clients to explore and schedule appointments, aligning with the spa’s goal of a seamless client experience. We were able to determine this through constant testing and feedback.
Strong Brand Alignment: The website’s calming aesthetic and luxurious design reflect The Bonito Spa’s identity, creating a welcoming online presence.
Improved Accessibility: Mobile-friendly layouts and touch-friendly interactions ensure clients can book services effortlessly on any device. Making this possible was the most difficult task because it seemed really terrifying, considering the number of content and services we had.
