Bad Bones Films – Custom Video Logic

Role: Webflow Development • Custom CMS • GSAP & JavaScript Live Site: badbonesfilms.com For this project, I handled full Webflow development in collaboration with the Deduxer team. The build centered around a custom CMS-powered portfolio, with an unconventional requirement: each video item needed a hover-preview animation, triggered by real CDN video links.

To achieve this, I created a hidden page containing all videos, from which I manually extracted the direct video URLs. These links were added as fields in the CMS and injected into a custom embed setup — creating a seamless experience where video previews play on hover, imitating a native player without the weight of a full embed.

The CMS also included Finsweet-based filtering to allow visitors to browse projects by category. Additional GSAP animations were used to bring subtle movement to the team section, while the rest of the animations were handled natively inside Webflow for stability and performance.

This was a highly technical build that required creative problem-solving, particularly around video delivery, CMS logic, and maintaining performance. It’s a great example of using Webflow at its limit while still delivering a clean, responsive, and scalable product.
