As Technical Lead for two critical Tier-1 services on the Prime Video API team, I ensured reliable delivery of content and metadata powering the Prime Video storefront for 200M+ monthly users. I drove architectural improvements that increased service availability over 10x, maintained peak performance during live events up to 133k TPS, enabled major UI updates, and enabled new interactive features like Q&A widgets for live events, the Explore tab on detail pages, and enhanced episode lists.

What I Did:

Technical Lead for two Tier-1 services delivering content and metadata for the Prime Video storefront, supporting 200M+ monthly users.
Hands-on developer consistently implementing new features, refactoring existing codebase to improve maintainability, participating in on-call rotations, away-teaming changes on other team's services, and reviewing other developer's code.
Led training and drills for my team, mentored other engineers, and managed control rooms for high-profile events like Thursday Night Football.
Coordinated with other senior engineers and backend teams to support a major UI redesign in 2022 and make it easier to find subscription content in 2024.
Designed and implemented new architectures enabling Q&A, customer support interfaces, the explore tab, and improved episode lists with pre-release episode status.

Achievements / Impact:

Improved availability of a highly critical Tier-1 service to over 99.9999% uptime under extreme load.
Supported peak live-event traffic of 133k TPS with zero service degradation.
Delivered major updates and new features seamlessly for 200M+ users, serving 190 billion requests per month and returning 18 trillion titles to customers per month.
