Event Planet — Product Design Revamp

NextGrid Digital

NextGrid Digital

Overview

Event Planet is India's first wedding package marketplace, a single-window platform for booking weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate events, and destination celebrations across India and internationally. The platform connects users with venues, vendors, event planners, photographers, decorators, caterers, and more.
When Event Planet engaged NextGrid, the product had traction but the user experience wasn't keeping up. The existing design created friction in the booking flow, the homepage didn't communicate the platform's breadth, and the vendor portal needed a rethink. This was an end-to-end product design engagement.

The Challenge

The booking flow had too many steps and unclear decision points, causing drop-offs before users reached a quotation
The homepage didn't effectively communicate the platform's range: packages, venues, vendors, beauty & outfits, transportation, and international destinations
The vendor portal lacked the structure vendors needed to manage their listings and respond to leads efficiently
Mobile experience was an afterthought, despite the majority of Indian users browsing on mobile
The platform serves multiple event types (weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate, international) but the navigation didn't make this obvious

Our Approach

1. UX Audit

We started with a full UX audit of the existing platform. We mapped every user journey from landing to quotation submission, identified friction points in the booking flow, and documented where users were dropping off. The audit covered desktop and mobile, buyer-side and vendor-side.
Key findings:
The booking flow required too many decisions upfront before showing any value
Package categories weren't surfaced early enough in the user journey
The quotation form buried critical context (guest count, venue type, budget range)
Vendor profiles lacked the visual hierarchy needed for quick comparison

2. Homepage Redesign

We restructured the homepage around discovery and intent. The new design leads with a search-first hero, immediately followed by the 8 core service categories (packages, venues, vendors, beauty & outfits, event shopping, transportation, birthdays, corporate events).
Below the fold, the page flows through:
Luxury package categories by occasion type
Quotation entry points segmented by event (wedding, destination, international, anniversary, corporate, birthday)
Venue partner trust bar (Fern, Radisson, Hyatt, Taj, Marriott, Hilton)
Featured vendors and event planners
International destination packages with pricing anchors
Most viewed venues with full-bleed imagery
Testimonials and social proof
The narrative moves from "what do you need?" to "here's proof we can deliver it."

3. Booking Flow Redesign

We stripped the booking flow back to its core. The redesigned flow:
Starts with event type selection (one tap)
Surfaces relevant packages immediately based on selection
Shows pricing, guest capacity, room count, and inclusions upfront on every package card
Moves to a streamlined quotation form only after the user has seen what's available
Reduces the path from landing to submitted quotation by 40% fewer screens

4. Vendor Portal Redesign

The vendor portal was rebuilt around three priorities: listing management, lead response, and performance visibility. Vendors can now manage their profiles, respond to inquiries, and see how their listings perform, all from a cleaner, more structured interface.

5. Mobile Prototyping

Every screen was designed mobile-first. The Indian event planning market is overwhelmingly mobile, so we prototyped the complete buyer journey and vendor portal for mobile, ensuring touch targets, scroll behavior, and information density were optimized for smaller screens.

The Outcome

Event Planet now has a product experience that matches the scale of its marketplace. The homepage tells a clear story, the booking flow removes friction, the vendor portal gives partners the tools they need, and the mobile experience is built for how Indian users actually browse.
The platform serves 50+ partner venues across India, with international coverage in Thailand, Mauritius, Nepal, and Vietnam, and packages ranging from intimate elopements to large-scale destination weddings.
