Moez Street Signage and Information System
Moez Street is an open museum. Its history goes back to the Fatimids ,Ayyubids, Mamluks and Ottomans. The signage and information system aims to link and categorize the monuments in the street while highlighting their artistic style. This will transform the experience of the street to its visitors and make its navigation user friendly.
The designs were achieved through extensive research of the maps, architectural motifs and artistic style of each era. The project is composed of: a visual identity for Moez Street, a proposal for a physical signage system for the street and a mobile application that works as a tour guide. The signs later on came to life after 3 years through the organization Art D’Egypte who hosted an open exhibition event in Moez Street. Identification signs were produced with the sponsorship or Art D’Egypte, UNESCO and The Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt.
Moez Street is one of the oldest streets in Cairo, and bears witness to four Islamic dynasties that left a concentration of historical monuments.
Project is aimed at solving the problem of the street: not having a proper signage system.
