Emma Kershaw embarked on the culinary journey of La Maison du Rire driven by her love for the wines and cuisine of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France. Her vision was to create a bilingual book that would bridge cultures, showcasing a rich array of tastes and flavors to the ever-curious young palate.
In bringing Emma's vision to life, I faced a unique challenge: harmonizing two languages within the book, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for both English and French-speaking readers. The bilingual aspect demanded meticulous attention to detail in layout and typography.
Beyond the language intricacies, I took on the role of Art Director and Book Designer, conducting research to infuse the project with a fresh, youthful, and vibrant aesthetic. The aim was to make the culinary journey not only informative but visually delightful, embracing a colorful and engaging design to captivate the readers.
My strong skills in InDesign and experience with complex, text-heavy layouts were instrumental in executing this multifaceted project. From art direction to book design, I navigated the challenges of bilingual content, weaving it seamlessly into a visual tapestry that celebrates the rich flavors and culture of the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
