Project Overview
Skej is an AI-powered meeting scheduling assistant built to remove the manual back-and-forth from booking a meeting. Users can simply CC Skej in an email, and the assistant interprets the conversation, checks connected calendars and personal preferences, and proposes suitable times. Recipients can also connect their own calendars through a booking link for faster confirmation. The platform supports more than 80 languages and coordinates availability across time zones for professionals and distributed teams.
My Role
I worked as a Full-Stack Developer & Team Lead within a six-person delivery team. My role combined hands-on development with technical planning, implementation review, cross-stack coordination, and release-quality oversight. I helped translate the scheduling workflow into reliable product experiences spanning integrations, availability logic, meeting actions, and user-facing controls.
The Challenge
Scheduling sounds simple until multiple calendars, email providers, languages, preferences, and time zones are involved. Skej needed to fit into the tools people already use, understand natural-language requests, avoid calendar conflicts, and coordinate every participant without requiring new software or a complicated setup process.
What We Built
Email and calendar compatibility: workflows connecting with Gmail and Outlook, together with Google Calendar and Zoom integrations, so users could schedule from familiar tools.
Availability intelligence: calendar and preference analysis that suggests suitable meeting times without manual comparison.
Complete meeting actions: rescheduling and cancellation flows that automatically manage the required participant communication.
Global scheduling: time-zone coordination and support for more than 80 languages for international users and teams.
Autobook: instant scheduling between Skej users, removing the usual exchange of availability emails.
Engineering Approach
The six-person team delivered the platform through a structured waterfall engagement, breaking the product into integration, scheduling, communication, and user-experience workstreams. The architecture was designed to scale with growing usage while keeping scheduling responses dependable and the interface intuitive.
Tech Stack
Next.js, React, Node.js, MongoDB, AWS, Gmail and Outlook compatibility, Google Calendar integration, Zoom integration, and natural-language scheduling workflows.
Results
Skej reached more than 1,000 professionals during its public beta and grew to more than 50,000 registered users. The multilingual and time-zone capabilities supported adoption across international users, while Autobook improved internal team scheduling. The platform also scaled to a growing user base without reported performance degradation.
The Outcome
Skej turns meeting coordination into a natural extension of email and calendar workflows. By combining AI-assisted scheduling, connected calendars, multilingual support, time-zone awareness, and automatic meeting actions, it helps professionals spend less time arranging meetings and more time on the work those meetings are meant to support.
