One of my customers had an incredible challenge to migrate their desktops and software for 10,000 machines and 7,000 virtual devices within a very tight deadline because product support was going to drop.

The project requirements were steep:

Transfer user data settings

Upgrade the Operating System and the Productivity suite

Apply current security policies

Train users on new platform and software

Support the service desk for call surges post delivery

Create a migration process that can be triggered remotely

Create a gold standard virtual image

Though the budget was tight and the team had limited resources, we were able to pull it off with a success. It was also the first migration project at this customer that received the least amount of post migration support calls. This was due to the amount of time we spend communicating through trainings, wiki's leave behinds and marketing material before hand.
