| About the client

The University surgery clinic “St. Naum Ohridski” is a Public health facility with primary focus on treatment of surgical diseases. Their main activities are health care and education of students/specialists. What they always strive for is expertise, professionalism and responsibility in every aspect of the work, without difference whether it is education or health care.

| The problem

The University Clinic for Surgical Diseases faces two problems. One problem is that citizens recognize it as a general hospital. The other problem is the availability of general information and answers to frequently asked questions of patients. Both problems affect two groups:
Doctors - often see patients with problems that can be solved in a general hospital, spend a lot of time answering patients' questions that are repetitive and general
Patients - Patients think that the clinic is a general hospital and they can turn to them for any problem. They also often repeat the questions and take up the time of the doctors

| My role

In our final academy project, my role was to demonstrate my expertise in UX/UI design.
I conducted extensive research and design activities, including stakeholder interviews, user research, surveys, competitive analysis, user personas, user journeys, and information architecture planning.
I also created storyboards, user flows, and designed crucial hospital pages. To ensure the effectiveness of the design, I conducted A/B testing.

| Defining the goals and challenges

Through a thorough analysis of the project brief and insights gained from stakeholder interviews, I discerned three primary objectives:
Establishing a Memorable Brand: Our goal was to craft a distinct and memorable brand identity that would resonate with the target audience, fostering trust and recognition.
Delivering Comprehensive Patient Information: We aimed to ensure that the website would serve as an informative hub, furnishing patients with an abundance of pertinent details to empower them in their healthcare journey.
Preparing Patients for Surgery: A key focus was on equipping patients with the knowledge and resources needed to feel confident and prepared for their upcoming surgeries, alleviating anxiety and promoting a sense of readiness.

| Solutions

As a primary solution I have introduced the Patients section in the menu, which will be entirely focused on improving the experience of the patient who comes into contact with the website. This would contain all the information that would facilitate the patient's visit to the hospital, and thus the work of the doctors.
Of great importance for patients/users is the creation of a so-called Health Library - a database that would represent a kind of database of all diseases and conditions treated in the clinic for surgical diseases, which would contain all the relevant information needed by patients and to which they will have consent by scanning the QR code.
