The historical background of the emergence of positive psychology spans several years of development, but one of its key and most contemporary proponents who contributed significantly to its rise was Martin Seligman. Seligman was the one who reignited interest in redefining the goal and fundamental research focus of psychology, namely through the development and utilization of individual capacities, cognitive abilities, and talents, with the aim of attaining personal well-being and self-improvement. Therefore, when we refer to positive psychology, we imply the prism of an alternative psychological approach to human characteristics, behavior, and emotions.
