The beggar who downsells his begging

I am writing to you for the first time. Here's why:
I got 300 Newletter subs in 24 hours!!. I don't know how, but I had to check my profile again and again.
I got thinking—why not say thanks to the 300 of you who believed in the dream even before you saw the dream.
My son is coming home after spending some time with the grandparents. Anyway, long story short...
I took a cab to go and wait for him and his mom in town at the bus stop. And on the way there, there was traffic. The taxi driver stopped. And a street boy approached the car...
He was holding a cleaning device and a bottle with... Probably water (maybe soap). And he approached each car, offering to clean their windshields.
I didn't see much of what happened until he approached us. And what he did blew my mind.
The downselling beggar
He told the driver that he'd clean the windshield for money. He didn't actually say it because the window was closed but his sign-language game was on point.
Our driver shook his head. NO.
Then the beggar did something that I'd never seen anyone do before.
The dirty-looking beggar took the bottle of water and grabbed it with the same hand that was holding the cleaning device.
And...
Put his empty hand in front of the driver as if he's saying "okay if you don't need cleaning then at least give me some money".
He tried to DOWNSELL our driver.
And here's why that's genius:
1. Price anchoring
How much do you think a windshield cleaning would cost?
I'd say about 100 bob. Right?
But then, how much do you usually give a street boy on the street? Usually 10 or 20 bob tops. Right?
So after being offered to pay 100 bob, 20 bob seems cheap. Especially if it'd get the street kid to go away.
But that's not even the smartest thing that the street boy did...
2. Playing into belief-systems
Let's play a game.
Tell me which one of those two OPPOSING beliefs you currently have:
[1] I feel bad for beggars, and I feel like I should help if I can. They've had a difficult life and are in a difficult spot, and 20 bob is not a lot of money for me, so I'd gladly give it to them.
2] THEY SHOULD GO FIND A JOB LIKE THE REST OF US!
So...
Which one?
See..
For every person reading this email who says that they feel bad for beggars and give them money...
There's another person who says they should go get a job.
It's about a 50-50 split.
And just try to convince the person who has an opposite belief to yours that he or she is wrong. JUST TRY.
We know the outcome of that before we even try.
And that's why the beggar offered a way out for both beliefs. "Think I should work for my money? Cool. I'll clean your windshield and earn my money".
"Think I'm in a bad spot and feel bad for me? Cool. Give me money.
GENIUS.
But how does that work in marketing?
The exact same way but with different tactics. And that's why marketers who work so hard to "break limiting beliefs" of their audiences are donkeys.
Yes. Donkeys. I said it.
Instead of breaking beliefs... PLAY INTO THEM.
And if this topic interests you? Then you should know that Corenect is the right platform for you. A resource that'll teach you all about belief systems and how to use them in marketing, getting online gigs and setting yourself up for success in your career
How to play into beliefs when selling products
How to structure funnels using belief systems
How to build "bridges" between beliefs
And much more.
But we're getting ahead of ourselves right now.
It'll take at least a month or two until everything is ready. But do keep an eye on your emails from me if this is of interest to you.
Ok? Thanks bye.
P.S.
I believe that this resource will split marketers in two:
Half will finally understand how to build products and funnels that sell.
And the other half will continue to throw poop at a wall to see what sticks.
Let's hope that you're gonna be in our room that doesn't smell of poop when the time comes.
