Jenny Packham needed to modernise and streamline their eCommerce operations by integrating their Shopify store with their ERP system, Styleman.
Despite having a Shopify store in place, it functioned more as a catalog than a true ecommerce platform—customers couldn’t complete purchases directly. Additionally, managing inventory, orders, and customer data involved significant manual work, leading to inefficiencies, delays, and an increased risk of errors.
The primary goals of this project were to:
Fully automate the connection between Shopify and Styleman to eliminate manual data entry.
Enable direct online purchases, turning their store into a revenue-generating platform.
Create a scalable solution that could support future eCommerce growth.
Objectives
Fully automate the connection between Shopify and Styleman to eliminate manual data entry.
Enable direct online purchases, turning their store into a revenue-generating platform.
Create a scalable solution that could support future eCommerce growth.
Approach
We began with a comprehensive discovery process to ensure we built an automation system tailored to their business needs. Our approach included:
Mapping Out Business Processes
We conducted a deep dive into how Jenny Packham managed orders, inventory, and customer data.
Identified pain points in their existing workflows, such as order duplication risks, slow inventory updates, and inefficient manual interventions.
Outlined key data points that needed to flow between Shopify and Styleman in real-time.
Structuring for Scalability
Designed the Shopify store’s backend to handle larger order volumes, future product expansions, and increased automation without requiring constant adjustments.
Implemented an API-driven architecture to allow for future integrations with additional platforms.
Planning for Long-Term eCommerce Growth
Identified opportunities for phase two of eCommerce development, including multi-channel selling and personalised customer experiences.
Ensured the infrastructure could support international expansion and increased product offerings.
Solution
To address these challenges and achieve full automation, we built a custom integration using MAKE (formerly Integromat), ensuring seamless synchronisation between Shopify and Styleman. The solution was structured through a series of automated workflows that eliminated manual intervention:
Bulk Product Variant Creation: Automatically generates multiple product variations in Shopify, reducing setup time for new collections.
Create & Update Products: Ensures Styleman and Shopify remain in sync by automatically updating product listings, descriptions, and stock availability.
Order Creation Automation: Captures orders placed in Shopify and sends them to Styleman in real-time, eliminating manual order entry and reducing processing delays.
Dispatch Fail Scenario Handling: Identifies and logs any errors in fulfillment, allowing for quick resolutions without disrupting operations.
Fulfillment Automation: Streamlines the entire order fulfillment process by ensuring accurate tracking and order status updates between Shopify and Styleman.
Return Automation: Automates the processing of customer returns, ensuring inventory is updated and restocked correctly without requiring manual input.
This transformation significantly reduced manual workload, eliminated data inconsistencies, and improved the efficiency of Jenny Packham’s ecommerce operations. With a scalable and fully automated infrastructure in place, their team can now focus on business growth instead of backend maintenance.
