Dell EMC - VxRail

Literature in Motion Video

Overview

Mahalo Digital engaged me to create a fast, polished Literature in Motion piece for Dell EMC’s VxRail product launch. I was provided the script and a full set of brand assets—typography, iconography, imagery, and graphic elements—and built the entire animation from those materials. I storyboarded the narrative, choreographed every beat to a custom-edited music track, and animated the full sequence to create a clean, modern, on-brand motion treatment for Dell’s webpage.

Challenge

Turn static brand materials into a cohesive and engaging motion narrative
Build a fully animated piece within a tight four-day turnaround
Maintain Dell’s strict brand aesthetic while keeping the pacing dynamic
Highlight product benefits clearly using only 2D assets
Deliver two rounds of revisions inside a compressed schedule
Produce a polished marketing asset suitable for Dell’s public-facing site

Execution

I began by interpreting the script into a visual flow, creating a storyboard that defined hierarchy, rhythm, and the movement of information. Because the piece relied entirely on existing Dell EMC assets, the creative focus was on choreography—making typography, shapes, and imagery feel energetic and purposeful without stepping outside brand constraints.
Music played a central role. I selected and cut the track to create a custom rhythm bed, giving the animation a clear pulse. Every transition, text reveal, and graphic movement was timed to the score to keep the piece feeling modern and precise.
The motion design approach emphasized clean typography, smooth transitions, and subtle 2D layering to give depth to otherwise static materials. Icons, lines, and interface-style movements helped communicate the technical story: how VxRail simplifies and accelerates modern infrastructure.
Despite the accelerated schedule, the workflow stayed tightly structured—storyboard → build → refine—allowing for two efficient revision rounds with Mahalo and Dell before final polish and delivery.

Outcome

The finished Literature in Motion piece provided Dell EMC with a sharp, professional visual narrative for the VxRail product launch. It integrated seamlessly into their webpage, communicated the product’s core value clearly, and delivered a polished, brand-faithful animation built entirely from existing materials. The rapid four-day turnaround demonstrated the efficiency and power of the LiM format while still achieving a high level of design and execution. Please check it out below!
