Software Implementation

A certain three-letter intelligence agency was undergoing a major software transformation. Antiquated tools were being decommissioned and new software solutions were being built to modernize our ways of working. As a Technical Director, my role was to work with the software developers to ensure that the form and function of our analytic processes were present in the final innovative technologies. Our mission supported strategic leaders, to include the President of the United States, and battlefield commanders in warzones. Any lapse in productivity or accuracy could prove devastating to our national defense. As software implementations go, this was a very exceptional project.

To ensure that all of our equities were represented, I sat down with every single member of our organization and documented their processes. I then created a requirements document and worked with the software developers to ensure the solution met the requirements. I then conducted all alpha and beta testing of the new tools, providing developers with crucial feedback. The next hurdle was training. I mapped the functions of the old tools to the new tools and generated "cheat sheets" for analysts to reference during the transition. I held training vignettes and desk-side training sessions to ensure there was no loss in continuity for our high-priority mission.

After a few months of hard work, I closed out my project with the following results:
