Building Awareness Through Inclusive Direct Mail Campaigns

With my role as a Senior Graphic Designer at The J, a non-profit Jewish community center, one of my responsibilities is to organize quarterly photoshoots to evolve their content library. While prepping for one of their membership campaigns, they knew they wanted to express one of their tagline’s “Everyone Welcome.” It was very important to them to convey that no matter what age, gender, religion, etc. that you are welcome at The J. I took the opportunity to organize a shot list for our photographer to capture photos of multi-generational families, children, young adults and seniors to best communicate that tagline. I reached out to all department directors to facilitate the contact between The J members and I. After gathering all of the photos needed for this campaign, I designed two different postcards, one for families and the other for single adults in order to hit the targeted audiences. This project was definitely important to The J as one of their commonly mistaken assumptions is that you have to be Jewish to become a member. By outwardly expressing that everyone is welcome, it became clear to people and led them to become members.
