Logo Design Process

For the League of Conventions logo, I focused on creating a streamer-inspired aesthetic to reflect the digital nature of the event. The design process included:

Concept Development & Sketching

Brainstormed ideas that would unify ConnectiCon, Kogaracon, AnimeNEXT, and MAGFest under a single identity.

Explored streaming and gaming aesthetics to align with the virtual format.

Sketched out rough logo variations to experiment with layout, typography, and iconography.

Vector Illustration in Illustrator

Created a bold, high-energy logo using Adobe Illustrator.

Incorporated sleek, modern typography with a sense of movement.

Used a bright color scheme to represent the excitement of multiple conventions coming together.

Designed a dynamic emblem that could easily be adapted to highlight each individual convention.

Alternate Logo Variations

Created four custom versions of the logo, each highlighting one of the participating conventions.

Ensured all versions worked seamlessly across social media, stream overlays, and promotional materials.

Logo Animations & Stinger Transitions

To create a seamless stinger transition for stream overlays, I designed an eye-catching motion sequence in After Effects. The animation process included:

Storyboard & Motion Planning

Sketched out how the transition would play out, considering flow, timing, and visual impact.

Planned a "You Are Watching" intro that smoothly transitioned into the cityscape scene with beams of light showcasing the convention logos.

Animating the Logo

Used After Effects to create an impactful entrance animation for the League of Conventions logo.

Added scaling, rotation, and glow effects to enhance the energy and excitement.

Integrated particle effects and light bursts to give the animation a polished, professional feel.

Cityscape Transition

Designed a digital cityscape with animated spotlights and glowing windows to represent a lively virtual convention space.

Programmed the light beams to shine onto each convention’s logo in a dynamic reveal sequence.

Final Stinger Effect

The stinger was timed to last around 1-2 seconds, allowing for a smooth cut from one scene to another.

Ensured fluid motion and seamless integration into the stream environment.

Character Animations for Livestream Screens

Each convention had its own mascot character, which I brought to life through hand-drawn animation in Procreate. The animation process:

Sketching & Cleanup

Created rough sketches of each mascot in different poses.

Refined the outlines and cleaned up the drawings to prepare for animation.

Frame-by-Frame Animation

Animated subtle movements such as waving, bouncing, or looking around.

Used onion skinning in Procreate to ensure smooth motion.

Created a walking sequence for characters moving across the screen.

Final Composite & Integration

Exported animated sequences and brought them into After Effects for final adjustments.

Applied motion blur and easing effects to enhance realism.

Final Impact

The League of Conventions successfully brought together four major conventions under a unified brand and motion graphics experience. My work in logo design, animation, and streaming visuals helped create an engaging, professional, and immersive event that not only entertained audiences but also supported meaningful causes like suicide prevention (AFSP) and social justice (Campaign Zero).
