What exactly was the client hoping for, and what did they receive?

The client and I spoke at length about the areas to highlight (notably commas and related punctuation), but the client gave me free rein in regard to developmental notes and sentence-level rewrites as needed. I not only addressed any improvements to the grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax, but also left notes on character development, setting, and plot.

Utilizing my educational experience at the University of Texas at El Paso's Creative Writing program as well as my years as an instructional associate in writing, I quickly caught the small punctuation and grammatical errors that will showcase to readers the final product is professionally edited. Additionally, I left comments regarding character development and plot to ensure the big picture was not forgotten among the details. I always leave in the original writing to allow the client to choose which of my rewrite suggestions they keep in the manuscript. Rewrites are always to enhance the readability as well as maintain the voice and style of the story. My goal is to always improve the stories given to me, but as the author, it is always at the client's discretion to take or leave the suggestions. I do not rewrite whole sections of any manuscript because I don't want to take over the author's intended style.
