Digital Health Ecosystem Strategy

A strategic concept exploring how Technogym could evolve from a connected fitness hardware manufacturer into a preventive health ecosystem platform.
This project was developed during my MSc in Finance & Artificial Intelligence at Bologna Business School. It focused on business model design, ecosystem architecture and the commercial logic of building a data-driven health platform, not on engineering a medical product.

The Strategic Question

Technogym already has connected devices in gyms, hotels and homes worldwide. The question was: what happens when you treat that hardware footprint as infrastructure for a broader health ecosystem, rather than as standalone fitness equipment?

What the Project Explored

Preventive health ecosystem design A platform concept connecting fitness data, behavioural patterns and AI-enabled monitoring to support earlier risk detection and personalised health engagement. The focus was on prevention and engagement, not diagnosis or treatment.
Ecosystem mapping Mapping the relationships between Technogym's existing hardware, potential data partners (insurers, corporate wellness, healthcare providers) and end users. Identifying where value is created, captured and exchanged across the ecosystem.
Platform business model Designing a B2B monetisation framework where Technogym's proprietary behavioural and activity data becomes a strategic asset. The model explored subscription layers, data partnerships and enterprise wellness integrations.
Data strategy and privacy-aware architecture Considering how to build commercial intelligence from health-adjacent data while respecting privacy constraints. The concept explored edge computing and federated learning as approaches to keep sensitive data local while still generating aggregate insight.
AI-enabled monitoring and engagement Using AI to identify behavioural patterns, flag early health indicators and personalise user engagement. Positioned as decision-support and engagement tooling, not clinical diagnostics.

Product and Innovation Thinking

This project sits at the intersection of product strategy, AI reasoning and business model design. It demonstrates how I think about digital systems at the ecosystem level: who are the users, where does the data flow, what's the commercial logic, and how do you build something that's both useful and responsible.

Why This Matters for My Work

The strategic thinking behind this project, ecosystem design, data logic, platform monetisation, privacy-aware architecture, is the same thinking I apply when helping clients shape digital products. Whether it's an MVP for a startup or an internal tool for a small team, the underlying questions are similar: what problem are we solving, for whom, and how does the system hold together?
