Our favourite polychromatic, turn-based strategy game will soon be available for PC. Swedish development company Midjiwan AB has announced that The Battle of Polytopia: Moonrise will be available to buy on Steam from August 14, 2020.
For those that missed out on this award-winning empire builder set in the whimsical, square landmass of Polytopia, The Battle of Polytopia is a free-to-play, fast-paced, 4x strategy game with stunning low poly graphics and soundtrack and gameplay that will keep you hooked. Select Perfection for a quick game on the go and conquer rival tribes in 30 turns, but beware, every move counts here. If you have time to spare, go for Domination and become the last tribe standing.
With four tribes to choose from and difficulties ranging from easy to crazy, you'll get plenty of hours out of this beautiful strategy sandbox. Each tribe begins the game with a different boost called tech.
If, like us, you devoted hours to this game and successfully ruled over all four of the starter tribes, creating a civilisation worth boasting about, you have the option to purchase one of 11 additional tribes to reign over. Profits from both the Zebasi and Elyrion tribes go to charitable causes.
Purchasing your first additional civilisation will unlock online multiplayer features, and each additional purchase thereafter grants you access to more opponents during gameplay. With that being said, the ad-free mobile version is by no means pay-to-play, and you can experience great gameplay without breaking the bank.
Retailing at $14.99 (with a chance to get 33% off if you purchase on launch day!), you'll have access to all 12 of the original tribes and a host of new features proposed by Midjiwan AB—two of the most exciting being online matchmaking for up to 12 players and cross-platform multiplayer.
In the mobile version of Polytopia, multiplayer can be played using Local Pass & Play or by sharing your 'Game Name'. A brand new creative mode will also be included in the Steam version, along with five map types. Check out the complete feature list here.
So, if you're looking for a dose of mindfulness and also enjoy a bit of ruling, conquering and inter-dimensional exploration but can't wait a whole week, check out the mobile version available on Android and iOS.
