Brand Design Kit for Personal Blog - HeyLia!

The Brief
HeyLia! is a personal blog project, as an art student and a single parent, where I am documenting social experience and challenges as an Indonesian woman.
I'd like to bring a brand identity that reflects causes I care; gender justice and single mother empowerment in digital realm through writing and creative art. The goal is to create a bold, visually captivating brand that represents single motherhood and women in general and presenting HeyLia! becoming unique voice for social change.
My Role
As the graphic designer, I developed a brand identity that reflected female strength and empowerment. I crafted messaging that positioned HeyLia! as a rising thought leader in women's social experiences and designed engaging social media content and blog visuals.
The Process
Purple has been a stigmatized color within Indonesian society for generations. It is often described as repulsive and vulgar, as society places widows and divorced women in a third-class gender. Yet purple in world history was once a royal color for a long time due to its complexity, creating such color that only royals could own piece of purple. In modern design, purple represents elegance, boldness, and maturity. Using purple for the brand becomes a necessity as it speaks to moving forward against stigma.
I am also influenced by Middle Eastern graphic novels and Islamic geometric designs and would like to incorporate these in the visual elements and illustration.
