Introduction

The implementation of the Obama Care Act in March 2010 set the stage for a transformative redesign of United Healthcare's (UHC) digital platforms. My objective was to enhance the accessibility of health insurance, making it an intuitive and educational experience for users, many of whom were navigating these waters for the first time.

Challenges Identified

Through client interviews and usability testing, I unearthed a critical gap in user knowledge and trust towards health insurance. The challenge was twofold: simplifying complex information without diluting content essential for informed decision-making, and redesigning UHC's offerings to be more engaging and less intimidating.

Innovative Solutions

In the following section, we unveil a series of innovative solutions meticulously designed to redefine the health insurance application experience for United Healthcare. These solutions, born from a deep understanding of user needs and a commitment to accessibility, include the intuitive 'Helper Tray' for seamless navigation, personalized educational content trays for informed decision-making, and a streamlined application process to minimize overwhelm. Each solution represents a strategic response to the challenges of demystifying health insurance, enhancing user engagement, and building trust through clarity and support.
Step-by-Step Guides: Created to demystify health insurance by educating users about policy details, ensuring the journey from confusion to clarity was a seamless one.
The 'Helper Tray': More than just a tool, the 'Helper Tray' served as a constant companion to users, providing relevant and accessible contextual content. It personalized the experience, simplifying decision-making and building trust.

The project successfully simplified health insurance navigation for UHC, introducing user-friendly features that improved user comprehension and engagement. By transforming a complex process into an accessible and reassuring experience, we significantly bolstered user confidence and trust in UHC's services.
