Financial Analytics for Real Estate Company from Xero

A leading Australian real estate company was spending 4-6 hours a month creating manual reports from Xero to analyse their costs and sales to optimise profit.

The company wanted a solution that would allow them to analyse their costs, sales and profit daily so that they could make decisions faster and stay on top of the cost control and have a better forecast for the profit in the months ahead.

The company also wanted a solution that would allow them to create their own reports and have the flexibility to add more data in from the Xero API in the future. Currently off the shelf Xero Analytics solutions do not provide this flexibility, so we utilised our experience to develop a custom solution that was flexible to allow further enhancements and self service.

We crafted a solution using Microsoft Fabric the latest evolution of Power BI that allows SME’s to orchestrate entire data solutions in a single platform with monthly pricing.

We facilitated the data extraction from Xero using our standardised pipelines landing the data in a central repository called a data lake.

After this we created a data warehouse after cleansing and modelling the data. This allows their super users to query the data themselves and build their own reports in the future.

We then developed a couple of power bi reports to allow them to monitor their KPI’s on a daily basis, drill down into problem areas and analyse their Profit and Loss statement across months with drill down capabilities right down to the transactions.

This solution empowered the client to analyse performance accurately, make well-informed decisions, and reassure directors of the diligent monitoring and management of the business
