LIDAR-enabled iPhone 12 Pro App that will aid in internal tree decay assessment process by National Parks (NParks) arborists
Role: ️🧑💻Full-Stack Developer
Description
📐 Tree surface geometry is needed to calculate estimates of internal decay. Crude methods such as using calipers provide low-resolution data. A faster and quick method was suggested to obtain the geometric data.
How might we design a measurement tool which provides efficient and accurate data needed for tree decay assessments?

What have I learned?
Design Science- Design Research methods other than User Research were used - Reference Models - to investigate key design considerations.
iOS Development- Developing in Swift was complex and still remains vastly unexplored. Many toolkits were explored and tested with through this project; not limited to SwiftUI, UIKit, ARKit, RealityKit and MetalKit.
