Building a Visual Identity for an Urban Pétanque Community
Petank is an urban community built around pétanque as a social ritual, a game, and part of city culture. The project brings people together through events, shared experiences, and a playful approach to the sport.
Design approach
The goal was to create a visual identity that could feel simple, memorable, and flexible enough to work across both everyday communication and event environments. I built the system around clear typography, bold graphic elements, playful references to the game, and a visual language that feels social, approachable, and easy to recognize.
Visual system
The identity was designed as a modular communication system rather than a fixed set of assets. Graphic elements, illustrations, type, color, and imagery can shift depending on the format while keeping the brand recognizable across digital content, events, merchandise, and physical touchpoints.
Scope of work
The visual direction was developed from the ground up, from the core identity and art direction to a flexible system that could scale across communication, events, and merchandise.
Deliverables
> Brand identity
> Typography and color system
> Graphic system
> Illustrations
> Social media design
> Website design
> Event identity
> Merchandise design
> Apparel
> Branded pétanque balls
> Banners and signage
> Game-related physical assets
The outcome
The identity evolved into a full brand ecosystem that works across digital and physical experiences. Petank now has a recognizable visual language that can adapt from social content and web communication to events, apparel, branded pétanque balls, banners, and other game-related objects, helping the community feel cohesive wherever the brand appears.
