Personal Website Design for Elsa, Doula and Birth Educator

A doula website that looks like the landscape she works in, not like every other doula site.

The situation Elsa is a doula and birth educator in Deventer. Her old site worked, but it looked like dozens of others in her field. For pregnant visitors choosing someone to trust with their birth, that sameness made her easy to scroll past.

The decision: step away from pink Research showed that most Dutch doulas use soft pink and blush. I explored two directions, one in that familiar style and one drawn from the landscape around Deventer, and chose olive, terracotta and warm cream. It still feels warm, but it’s unmistakably hers, and it fits her love of nature.

Two overlapping circles frame Elsa’s portrait. The same motif returns as section frames and as a diagram of the oxytocin chain on the birth pool page, so the site feels designed as one piece.

For a doula, trust starts with who she is. The About page uses editorial spacing, personal photography and long-form copy, inspired by Kinfolk. Newsreader and DM Sans keep it calm and readable.

Launched in June 2026. Elsa received a new client enquiry through the site on launch day.

Every call to action opens an overlay form, so visitors can reach out without leaving the page they’re reading.

My website was disorganized, cluttered, outdated and looked very unprofessional. 

Jordi was pleasant, approachable and fun to work with. He came up with additions and ideas I could never have come up with myself, and he really took the time to understand my profession and adapt the website to my target audience and the vibe I wanted to create. 

I love the result!! It turned out exactly as I wanted. There was constant communication and we made many adjustments together. I can be quite particular with my wishes, but Jordi was patient and really listened. The website finally feels like me!
